2nd Grade Sacramental Preparation

The 2nd grade year is an exciting time in the life of a Catholic for both children and parents.

Children of the age of reason are invited to come closer to Jesus through preparation to receive Him in Holy Communion. The first step of preparation is to understand our need for God’s forgiveness and mercy in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The first half of the year is spent in preparation for Reconciliation. The 2nd half of the year is spent in preparation to receive Jesus, Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity in the Eucharist.

We know that parents are the primary educators of their children. This is especially true for what is modeled at home with prayer and our Sacramental life. Therefore, parents take an active part in the readiness of their children to receive Jesus. We meet together many times throughout the year to provide understanding and a deepening of faith, which includes a retreat.

We are using a newer resource from Dynamic Catholic to help with preparation.  There’s never been anything like Blessed in the Catholic world for children. You will find world-class animation and workbooks that are works of art, along with Catechist-friendly leader guides. This has incredible content that meets children where they are and leads them, step-by-step, to where God is calling them to be. Blessed isn’t just different, it’s groundbreaking.
